What a journey…

When we look back at how far we’ve come since establishing The Chill Café in November 2017, it has been quite a journey. We started with a simple outdoor setting. As the café grew, it became The Chill Café Biergarten, shaped by hard work, a love of bringing people together and the support of our local community.

It wasn’t always easy. In the beginning, there were struggles and some skepticism about what we were trying to create. But we kept going, getting to know our neighbours and building something together. What began as a basic outdoor space grew into our award-winning Biergarten. So many people helped us along the way, and their support is part of this place’s story.

The COVID-19 pandemic and Hana’s cancer diagnosis were among the hardest times we faced. During those difficult days, our customers and neighbours supported us and offered a helping hand. People who had first come in for a coffee or a meal became friends. That kindness meant so much to us, and we have never forgotten it.

Official recognition and our liquor licensing milestones in 2022 and 2023 were important steps along the way. In 2024, we became German Biergarten Brisbane. The name reflects what we want to share with you: authentic German food, German beers and the warm welcome of a Biergarten.

For us, this is more than a business. It holds years of work, difficult moments, happy memories and the kindness of people who helped us keep going.
